This painting was inspired by the simple view of a moon being hidden by the clouds late one night. While spending a night out with my cats and ruminating in my despair, I took note of the moon and how beautiful it seemed. A sense of joy overcame me , mixed in with the thoughts of sadness and despair, which reminded me of the way the clouds were covering the moon’s beauty in the night sky.
